About Joanne McCall
Joanne McCall is a “media insider” who knows how media works from both sides of the microphone and helps others to put their best face forward.
McCall began her broadcasting career at the young age of 16 in Minneapolis/St. Paul and was an on-air personality for such companies as King Broadcasting, Trumper Communcations, Entercom Broadcasting and others.
Always with an entrepreneurial spirit, McCall founded Joanne McCall Media Group after working as an events manager and PR director for a large conference and retreat center. It was here that she created and developed media tours for speakers and authors appearing at the center, such as
Marianne Williamson, Gary Zukav, Deepak Chopra, Kenny Loggins, Wayne Dyer and others.
Her clients at Joanne McCall Media Group include many successful business owners, CEOs, authors, publishers, entrepreneurs and speakers including Geneen Roth, Brian Tracy, Dave Ramsey, Melody Beattie, Dr. Richard Bandler, Dr. David Simon, Andy Andrews, and Peggy McColl. Generating visibility for each of them was always key.
The Media Polisher is now here to fulfill a craving McCall saw in the marketplace; the need for a strong and visible online presence that is savvy and polished. “Now anyone in business needs to create his or her own media platform and they need to be polished. Opening up a flip camera and spewing forth is not a good strategy,” McCall says. “Being polished means tapping into one’s own authenticity and being genuine. It’s not about being slick or talking “at” people. It’s about being real and approachable. This is not a skill that comes naturally to most while facing a camera or microphone.”
As adjunct faculty at Marylhurst University, McCall helps students of all ages develop their online presence through learning about and experiencing social media. Her students come from all different departments including communications, business, science, music, art therapy, and others. Many of the other instructors take McCall’s social media class.
Whatever line of work you’re in, whether you’re a solopreneur, entrepreneur, business owner, or department head, coach, writer, or author, you will be required to be visible through video, audio, social media, blogs, etcetera. Helping people to shine online for more sales, more media, and more mojo is one of the Media Polisher’s greatest strengths.
For those needing help developing a national or regional media presence beyond their platform, McCall has established first-name-basis relationships with hundreds of top-tier producers, editors, and writers. She has frequently had her business people and authors featured in such national publications as USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Investors Business Daily, Entrepreneur, Good Housekeeping, and Redbook; on national television venues such as Today, Dateline NBC, Primetime, CNN, CNBC, Oprah, Fox News Channel, ABC World News, EXTRA, and MSNBC; in daily newspapers such as The New York Times, The Seattle Times, the Dallas Morning News, and the LA Times, in addition to online powerhouses like Beliefnet.com, Basil and Spice, and The Huffington Post. Others include New Age Retailer, Body + Soul magazine, and Yoga Journal; and on major market radio stations in cities all across the nation, including NPR.
McCall has a degree in communications with a certificate in mediation and conflict resolution. She is an adjunct professor, owner of several businesses and is an avid fitness enthusiast who enjoys participating in adventure runs and other outdoor activities. She lives with her husband and family on a mountain top in the Pacific Northwest.
